New homes rise in Capitol Hill as neighborhood investment continues

A vacant lot in Capitol Hill is starting to look a little different.
At SW 26th Street and Robinson Avenue, construction is underway on four new single-family homes, part of an effort to expand affordable homeownership while continuing the neighborhood’s recent momentum.
The project is supported by $800,000 in federal housing funds allocated by the City of Oklahoma City and will bring new, income-qualified housing to families earning up to 80% of the area median income. Once complete, the homes will be sold to qualified buyers with support from the City’s homebuyer assistance programs.
“New, quality affordable housing is an essential part of community revitalization,” said Shannon Entz, the City’s housing strategy implementation manager. “These homes will benefit the families who have a safe and affordable home, the neighbors who used to look out on a vacant lot, and the nearby business owners with new customers.”
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of September.
The effort builds on work completed through the Strong Neighborhoods Initiative, a five-year program that wrapped up in Capitol Hill in 2025 and focused on improvements identified by residents. While the program has concluded, projects like this show how those plans continue to take shape.
The homes are being developed by the Oklahoma City Housing Services Redevelopment Corporation, also known as Positively Paseo, using funding from the federal HOME Investment Partnerships Program.
