OAK announces $1M concert stage, plans to host 100 community events
OAK, the 20-acre mixed-use district under construction in Oklahoma City, will include a $1 million stage for live music and concerts. The stage will be surrounded by a massive art installation, Cloud Trees. At 25.5 feet tall, the three Cloud Trees will encircle the stage with illuminated, bronze tree trunks and a shared canopy of mirror-polished stainless steel clouds. Hidden within the clouds is the speaker system, creating an immersive arts and entertainment experience
“Oklahoma City is ready for more ways to experience premier live entertainment,” said Stacy Schuch, OAK’s general manager. “We know what it takes to put on a great show. Our experience in delivering top-of-the-line talent paired with OAK’s commitment in creating vibrant community experiences will come together to introduce an entirely new entertainment platform for OKC.”
With a grand opening set for September, OAK plans to hold more than 100 community events in its inaugural year, ranging from holiday experiences to concerts and more. These events will unfold within OAK's 7,000-square-foot greenspace, now formally named Heartwood Park.
“A major cornerstone of OAK is our promise to deliver unique experiences for the community,” said Ryan McNeill of Veritas Development. “From a casual Tuesday to the kickoff of the holiday season, we can’t wait to invite the people of Oklahoma City to Heartwood Park to celebrate special moments with their friends and family.”
Heartwood Park’s inaugural Signature Events Series will feature weekly experiences such as live music, workout classes, farmers markets and more. Signature events will be free and open to the public.
For the 2024 holiday season, the park will transform into an ice-skating rink inspired by New York City’s Wollman Rink in Central Park. This year’s holiday events will also include a pop-up snow lodge, silent disco with Santa and more. Other seasonal events that will be hosted at OAK include Mardi Gras Mambo, a 3v3 basketball tournament and a Kentucky Derby watch party.
OAK, under now construction at 5101 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is a walkable mixed-use development with more than two miles of sidewalks weaving together first-to-market retailers, restaurants, Class A office space, luxury residences and a boutique hotel.
OAK’s first phase includes 135,000 square feet of retail, a 132-key boutique Lively Hotel and 320 upscale apartments. Several new-to-market tenants have already been announced for the project, including Williams Sonoma, Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar, Pottery Barn, Mesero, Arhaus, RH and Capital Grille. OAK’s ownership team is working with local artists to create murals and artful encounters throughout the property.
A future phase of the project includes 100,000 square feet of loft office space and an additional 85,000 square feet of retail.
