OK’s landscape incorporated into new Univ. of Okla. Medical Center North Tower
With design inspired by Oklahoma’s landscape, the largest hospital expansion in state history is now complete at the OU Health University of Oklahoma Medical Center.
The expanded space on the medical center’s campus will allow for increased care and additional services to treat more Oklahomans.
The North Tower is more than 450,000 square feet with eight floors of patient space, 144 additional beds and 32 new operating rooms. It also houses a medical/surgical floor and trauma/intensive care units.
Rising 152 vertical feet, the iconic building’s overall design focuses on the clean lines of modern architecture influenced by the Gloss Mountains northwest of Oklahoma City. Blue and crimson tones reflecting the “painted desert” of the mountains are also seen throughout the interior.
To offer patents a connection to the outdoors, the tower also includes both a healing garden and a courtyard garden.
