Red Solo Pup will soon be here to entertain you and your furry friend

By Chamber Staff / Development / January 21, 2021

Red Solo Pup, a new concept that combines an off-leash dog park with a restaurant and bar, recently broke ground at Chisholm Creek.

Owner Julianne Thomas noticed that dog parks were either designed for dogs or humans to enjoy but rarely both. It became her goal to create a fun and functional space that both the pet owner and their dog could enjoy in Oklahoma City.

“Our city needs more outdoor attractions right now, and what better idea to include dogs in the mix?” said Thomas. “We can’t wait to open and see family and friends safely gather outside. Dogs will exercise and play while their owners enjoy delicious food and drinks.”

The 1.1-acre dog park will include separate areas for large and small dogs and feature mixed surfaces like turf, granite and mulch. The menu will include items like burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs and salads.

Tammy Fate, senior manager of retail development and recruitment for the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber, said the fact that Red Solo Pup is locally owned and operated is great for Oklahoma City.

“It is always great when residents invest in creating something unique in Oklahoma City,” said Fate. “Red Solo Pup will be a great place to hang out with friends. I certainly can’t wait to bring my dog.”

The Chisholm Creek development is also excited to add the unique concept to its always growing offerings of family fun.

“We are thrilled to have Red Solo Pup at Chisholm Creek,” said Whitney Rainbolt, chief marketing officer for Chisholm Creek. “The one-of-a-kind, dog friendly, restaurant and bar will be a wonderful compliment to the current energy at Chisholm. We are looking forward to the new dynamic they will create in north Oklahoma City.”

London-based architecture firm Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM) designed the environment.

The industrial building holds a bar and restaurant under the protection of a covered patio to be enjoyed year-round. Hills, various terrain and hidden playgrounds will provide furry friends with endless entertainment and exercise.

AHMM Associate Director Wade Scaramucci said there is no building like it in Chisholm Creek. The restaurant and bar are cut from metal and finished with simple materials like plywood and basic tile, creating a fresh, open environment.

“We were excited to create this unique space and get creative with materials and topography indoors and outdoors,” Scaramucci said. “Our firm enjoys dreaming up something truly unique, much like this concept, so it was a fun project. This inviting space will be heartily welcomed by Oklahoma City residents.”

Red Solo Pup is slated to open this spring.
