Solar Power of Oklahoma establishes new partnership with Tesla

Greater Oklahoma City Chamber member Solar Power of Oklahoma (SPO) is teaming with Tesla to provide residents with an innovative solar system.
SPO said they were recruited by Tesla directly to partner on the new solar roof system and attended an intensive training session last month to become Tesla Solar Roof Certified.
“On a traditional solar energy system, solar panels are secured on top of the roof’s shingles. With a Tesla Solar Roof, the shingles are solar panels,” SPO President J.W. Peters said. “The look is cleaner, and the system provides more space to capture solar energy, because it is essentially the entire roof.”
SPO is now Oklahoma’s only dual-certified, licensed roofing and electrical company that is also Tesla Energy Certified, making them the state’s exclusive resource for installing the Tesla Solar Roof.
The number of tiles required for each home varies due to different roof configurations; however, each photovoltaic tile generates up to 72 watts of energy, combining to determine the overall power produced by each Tesla Solar Roof.
As rates increase for more traditional energy sources, and more vehicle owners opt for electric, the interest in solar energy has steadily increased. SPO reported a 275% increase in system installations in recent years and is projected to continually increase through 2023.
Homeowners can continue to take advantage of federal tax credits through 2023, which offset up to 30% of residential solar system installation costs.
Solar Power of Oklahoma is fully owned and operated within the state and works with home and business owners to custom design – then install – solar systems.
