Stillwater Regional Airport opens $27 million passenger terminal

By Chamber Staff / Development / October 6, 2026

Stillwater Regional Airport has opened a new $27 million passenger terminal, significantly expanding the airport’s capacity as it marks a decade of commercial air service.

The 31,375-square-foot terminal is roughly four times the size of the previous facility and was funded through a partnership among the Federal Aviation Administration, Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics and City of Stillwater.

Designed to accommodate future growth, the terminal includes expanded baggage claim and passenger seating, two additional ticket counters and space for a second TSA screening lane. The additional ticketing capacity provides room for American Airlines to expand its operations and could accommodate another airline in the future.

“The entire terminal is designed to support air service for the next 50 years,” Stillwater Regional Airport Director Kellie Reed said. “Our new, world-class terminal has room to grow.”

The project also introduces the airport’s first passenger boarding bridge, allowing travelers to board aircraft without going outside. Other additions include nursing rooms, family restrooms, a wellness and sensory room and an animal relief area.

The terminal incorporates elements inspired by Oklahoma and the Stillwater region, including terrazzo flooring featuring colors reminiscent of the state’s red dirt and design elements referencing Native American culture and Red Dirt music.

Oklahoma State University’s partnership with the airport is also reflected in a new charter lounge designed to serve OSU athletic teams and visiting teams. When it is not being used for athletic travel, the space can accommodate meetings, conferences and training events.

Stillwater Regional Airport is one of four airports in Oklahoma offering commercial passenger service. American Airlines currently connects Stillwater with Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
