West Village and Independent Shopkeepers Association launches contest for pop-up spaces

By Staff Reports / Development / April 5, 2021

Newmark Robinson Park, West Village and the Independent Shopkeepers Association (ISA) announced today the launch of a contest to fill retail storefronts with pop-up shops. The Pop-Ups at West Village gives local retailers the opportunity to make their shop dreams come true by moving into a brick-and-mortar in the downtown market with a low-cost, low-risk program.

Newmark Robinson Park partnered with ISA to launch the Pop-Ups at West Village, a retail incubator providing aspiring shopkeepers an accessible platform to set up a pop-up retail space for the low program fee of $100 per month for three months. The program will fill one to three retail spaces in West Village with local entrepreneurs wanting to take their business to the next level.

“Retail incubators like the Pop-Ups at West Village are a great opportunity for aspiring shopkeepers to test the waters and take the next step towards owning a long-term brick-and-mortar,” said Cléo Rajon, Executive Director of ISA. “Opening a shop for the first time can be overwhelming, especially in today’s economic climate. This program gives new entrepreneurs the chance to grow their retail business in a low-risk environment and join our vibrant community of local shops.”

The winners of the program will be given a storefront location to sell their products, meet new customers and grow their business from May 1 to July 31. The spaces, located next to the Jones Assembly, are between 335 and 460 square feet.

"This is a great opportunity for local retailers to jump start their concept or idea," said Tammy Fate, senior manager of retail development for the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber. "The growth and excitement around Film Row has been outstanding. Gain brand recognition in this emerging district with minimal cost and lots of exposure”

Applications must be submitted to www.isa.com/westvillage by 5 p.m. on April 11 to be considered. All eligible applications will be reviewed and winners will be selected by April 15 to open their shop to the public on May 1.
