Chamber's latest COVID-19 Tele-Town Hall covers government assistance programs
Following previous calls on the OKC public health situation and federal, legal and financial options available to local businesses, Senator James Lankford took some time to speak with Chamber members on the Chamber’s latest COVID-19 Tele-Town Hall phone call yesterday.
Before taking questions from Chamber members, Senator Lankford spoke briefly about production of testing kits, the outlook for treatment options and vaccine development, as well as issues around PPE manufacturing and timelines for government financial assistance and some of the guidelines around how that is to be distributed. Unemployment insurance changes were also discussed.
The Payroll Protection Program was also discussed as a way to help keep people connected to their jobs if their employer is a small business (500 employees or less). It provides 8 weeks of salary for every small business in the country. Employers with 500 employees or less should go to their bank to apply and for more information.
Questions and answers covered on the call largely revolved around loans, grants and funding sources for businesses for payroll, utilities, rent, etc. We hope the info on the call will be useful to Chamber member businesses and others in the Greater OKC community as we work together during this unprecedented time.

Chamber President Roy Williams ended the call by reminding participants about the groundbreaking Small Business Continuity Program. Another Tele-Town Hall call will be scheduled in the coming days to cover that particular program in more detail. Plans are to have applications online by April 7.
