Metro Tech launches apprenticeship program

Recruiting skilled workers is high priority for businesses. Metro Tech offers a solution for businesses to recruit, train and retain highly-skilled workers through a new apprenticeship program launched this month. Hiring highly-skilled workers increase company productivity and knowledge transfer creating a positive impact to the company’s bottom line.

The apprenticeship program is an employer-driven model that combines on-the-job learning with related classroom instruction at Metro Tech that increases the skill level of the worker. It is a flexible strategy that can be integrated into current training and human resource development.

Superintendent and CEO Aaron Collins said, “Workforce development is the key component of partnering with a business to bring value to both parties which strengthen our community. Metro Tech’s high-quality training prepares students for a complex work environment.”

By partnering with Metro Tech, a customized program can be created to fit the needs of an organization. Industries include over 2,000 diverse occupations.

National Apprenticeship Week is Nov. 8-14, 2020 and celebrates organizations across the U.S. who have established apprenticeship programs.

Metro Technology Centers has four campuses offering short-term, career and customized business training. Campuses are located in South Oklahoma City, Northeast Oklahoma City, the Will Rogers Airport and Downtown Oklahoma City. www.metrotech.edu
