Realtor.com's 2024 Housing Forecast has distinguished Moore, Okla., as a standout choice for first-time homebuyers, securing an impressive eighth place among the nation's top 10 markets. 

Here's a closer look at the key metrics that put Moore in the top 10: 

Moore's Key Metrics (2024 Forecast): 

- 9.7% of households aged 25-34, are expected to be homeowners. 

- 43.6 homes listed for sale during 12-month period ending November 2023. 

- Median listing price: $231,475. 

- Price-to-income ratio: 3.2 for the 12-month period ending November 2023. 

- Average travel time to work: 26 minutes. 

As the real estate market faced challenges in 2023, including high interest rates and a shortage of homes, optimism is rekindling in 2024. The survey reveals that 61% of first-time homebuyers find the current market favorable. Despite anticipated challenges in 2024, there's hope for a slowdown in price growth and mortgage rate increases, potentially offering relief in affordability. Impressively, 95% of prospective first-time homebuyers express confidence in homeownership within their lifetime, with 40% believing they can achieve it within the next year.

Various criteria points were considered for 2,738 cities within the 100 largest metro areas, ranking them based on factors such as the share of 25 to 34-year-old homeowner households, availability of homes for sale, affordability, job opportunities, average commute time, cultural vibrancy, forecasted metro home sales and home price growth in 2024. Moore is a top choice, meeting the criteria with the blend of affordability, job market growth and cultural vibrancy.
