OKC Metro unemployment rate rises slightly in June

The Oklahoma City metropolitan statistical area posted a 3.2% unemployment rate in June, up from a revised 2.8% in May, according to preliminary data.
Despite the increase, the metro has maintained an unemployment rate below 4% for 47 consecutive months—the longest such stretch in OKC’s modern history.
Among the 56 U.S. metros with a population over 1 million, OKC ranked third lowest in unemployment for the month. Birmingham, Alabama, recorded the lowest at 2.8%, while Fresno, California, had the highest at 8.5%.
Across Oklahoma, unemployment rates in 61 of 77 counties were lower than a year earlier. Rates were higher in 12 counties and unchanged in four.
