Oklahoma City diversity on the rise

Oklahoma City's ethnic population is growing and will soon outnumber OKC's White population.
According to research recently compiled by economists at the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber, the city of Oklahoma City has seen a 30% increase in its Hispanic population over the past decade. They also report that 40% of adults residing in OKC are non-white.
The figures were derived from data through a recent United States Census Bureau survey and forecast from Woods and Poole, a small, independent firm that specializes in long-term county economic data and demographic data projections.
Woods and Poole's research also projects that Oklahoma County will see minorities becoming the majority in 2031 when the population of White residents in the county is forecasted to drop below 50%.
Statewide, Oklahoma has seven times more Native American residents compared to the national average, according to the research. Within the state, 9.5% of residents are Native American, compared to just 1.3% for the entire U.S.
