Oklahoma City named a top spot for young professionals

According to research by Forbes Advisor, Oklahoma City is one of the best places in the country for young adults to buy a home. OKC claimed the No.2 spot on the list, right behind Des Moines, Iowa. 

Researchers compiled the list after comparing the 100 most-populous metropolitan cities. They considered 10 metrics in four key categories: employment and pay, housing affordability, lifestyle and cost of living. 

OKC received high marks for its low unemployment rate of 2.7% and median income of $39,383. On top of that, our median home price of $227,300 is well below the national price of $416,300. 

With a median age of 35.7 years, plenty of young adults are already living and working in the 405. Those who aren’t ready to buy can easily find affordable rentals. On average, OKC renters pay $1,114 a month, the ninth lowest in the nation.
