Oklahoma’s median down payment ranks among lowest in the nation

According to Bankrate, Oklahoma has the 5th lowest median down payment among all states, with a median of $27,600. 

That figure comes as the U.S. median down payment continues to rise. As of July 2025, the national median down payment reached $62,000, roughly 16 percent of a home’s median sale price.

• Analysts use the median rather than the average because it better reflects what a typical buyer can expect to pay.
