OKC VeloCity | Brewfest 101

Brewfest 101

By Marcus Elwell / Events / October 18, 2018

To say the craft beer scene in Oklahoma City has taken off the last couple of years would be an understatement. Recent changes to the state’s liquor laws has done nothing but turbo charge the creation of great breweries, wineries and distilleries in the metro. Brewfest, an annual showcase of Oklahoma breweries, is a great chance to sample the newest stuff from your favorite brewers.

Brewfest is put on by the OKBio Association to help raise awareness of the state’s diverse bioscience industry. This year’s event is Thursday, Nov. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Admission is $35 and includes a mug, t-shirt, unlimited samples and free parking. You can get your tickets here. Of course you must be 21 to enter.

One of the best aspects of Brewfest is that attendance is limited to 500. That means you have plenty of face-to-face opportunities with the people who are making the great beers and spirits in Oklahoma. You can pick their brains on their process, what is on the horizon or even what foods they think their beers pair best with.

While it is called Brewfest don’t be scared away if you are not a fan of beer. A handful of local wineries and distillers will also be in attendance. At last count, more than 30 local breweries, distillers and wineries will be on hand.

So on November 8, sample some amazing local beers, wines and spirits while supporting the state’s burgeoning bioscience community. You can learn more about the event here and more about the biosciences here.
