Can't decide whether to run or ride your bike? Do both!
If you're like me, you're a six-foot guy that likes local craft beer named Nate. But you are also in the habit of running and riding a bike for fun and exercise. And when the daily bustle of the city around you starts to settle down at dusk, a gentle breeze is at hand, and the world seems just about right for some outdoor fun cardio, it can be hard to solve the conundrum: should I go for a run, or go for a ride? Ah, how well I know that decision, amigo. It's a real Coppi's choice.
But wait, my fair friendly reader, don't fret. You can do both (or just one) at the Full Moon Bike Ride and Run events held at the Myriad Botanical Gardens throughout the summer. Be at the Band Shell at 8 p.m. for the 5k run, then get a nice cool down on a relaxing bike tour of downtown with a bunch of new friends (all with lights and helmets, check) at 8:30. The downtown fitness dream team of OKRunner leads the runs and Schlegel Bicycles leads the rides, so you know you're in good hands. Five bucks to participate also gets you entered into drawings for cool prizes. Want to ride but don't have a bike? No problem, because Spokies are available as well as bike rentals from Ride OKC. Whether you're a fitness aficionado or just like to do some easy pedaling, the Full Moon Ride and Run is the event for you.
Afterward, if you're "of age," as they say, I suggest celebrating your successful run and/or ride with a nice local craft beer (preferably of the Chamber member variety), but maybe that is just me.
