Chamberís annual trip to D.C. coming up soon
Spots are still available for the Chamber’s D.C. Visit, a two-day (May 1-2) trip to our nation’s capital to advocate for pro-business legislation. Attendees are afforded briefings with Oklahoma’s U.S. senators and congressmen, as well as a reception on Capitol Hill with federal officials and defense leaders. On the second day, sessions will cover specific topics of interest on issues critical to our community. Cost is $800 per person and includes one night’s lodging at The Intercontinental Washington D.C. – The Wharf, 801 Wharf Street NW, and all affiliated events.
“An incredibly valuable part of the DC Fly-In is the ability to connect with senior level executives from multiple sectors,” according to Tisha Tate, vice president of commercial development for Delaware Resource Group of Oklahoma. “The conversations that begin on the trip are carried on back in OKC and our Chamber is a key contributor to building those important community foundations.”
Meeting with the Oklahoma Congressional Delegation provides benefits to all those who attend, many past attendees have observed.
“The opportunity to hear individually from our congressional delegation in a fast-paced format in one location, is of great benefit, without the need to walk to each separate congressional office,” said John Michael Williams, president, Williams, Box, Forshee & Bullard, PC. “And, there is nothing like a briefing on the events of the day directly from our senators and congressman while actually on Capitol Hill, which makes me feel more connected with our federal government. Also, time is provided to talk individually with perhaps a dozen two-star and three-star Air Force Generals, which is a special and unique opportunity.”
“Our Chamber has a great eye for detail and this trip is a shining example of making the most of your time,” Tate added. “We are all busy and making the decision to take time out of your normal routine is tough, but this trip creates lasting value beyond the agenda.”
