How fast is OKC growing? The Sept. Chamber Forum will highlight population growth
The U.S. Census Bureau recently released population data estimates for Oklahoma in 2017. Results showed very notable growth in Greater OKC, particularly in Oklahoma City, Harrah and Piedmont. Additionally, the Urban Institute forecasts a 22.65 percent growth in population in Oklahoma City by 2030. The non-partisan think-tank has developed a mapping tool outlining population and demographic shifts across the U.S.
What do these incredible population growth numbers mean for Oklahoma City? How are city planners using projections to guide what the city will look like in the next generation? How will these changes impact how residents and businesses alike utilize resources like transit and health care? Where will Oklahoma City’s new communities be built and where will people want to live?
The Chamber will take a deeper dive into these questions, weighing the challenges and opportunities around Oklahoma City’s population growth, at the Sept. Chamber Forum event Wednesday, September 19, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at VAST.
We’ll explore how growing demographic shifts across Oklahoma County are changing how and where people live, learn and work, and what it means for the future of Oklahoma City. Learn more here.
