InternOKC connects nearly 400 young professionals to Oklahoma City

Nearly 400 interns from companies and organizations across the Oklahoma City region participated in this year's InternOKC program, an annual initiative hosted by the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber to help young professionals build connections, develop career skills and explore opportunities in Oklahoma City.
"InternOKC is about helping our businesses secure the talent they need by creating an atmosphere where young professionals see themselves building a career and a life in Oklahoma City," said Christy Gillenwater, president and CEO of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber. "By connecting interns with business leaders, community assets and one another, we're creating experiences that encourage talented young people to stay, grow and contribute to our region's future."
Throughout the daylong program, interns heard from civic and business leaders, participated in professional development workshops, connected with peers and employers, and explored many of the districts, developments and amenities shaping Oklahoma City's future.
Participants heard from Mayor David Holt and leaders from organizations including the Oklahoma City Thunder, OU Health, Love's Travel Stops and American Fidelity. Interns also participated in breakout sessions focused on professional relationships, communication styles and career mindset before taking part in a young professionals panel featuring emerging business and community leaders.
The program concluded with a "Welcome to OKC" tour showcasing key districts, major developments and quality-of-life amenities throughout the city, followed by a networking reception connecting interns with recruiters, business leaders and fellow participants.
InternOKC is designed to supplement employers' intern training programs while introducing participants to the people, places and opportunities that make Oklahoma City an attractive place to launch a career.
