Midsummer nights perfect for Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park

By Nate Fisher / Events / June 7, 2018

Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park kicked off their 34th season of bringing The Bard to the bucolic surroundings of the Myriad Botanical Gardens Water Stage on May 31. A family-friendly "A Midsummer Night's Dream" leads the summer series, and there's plenty of time to catch performances of this audience favorite before the action shifts to the Paseo District, as the company branches out from Shakespeare to "The Revolutionists" by Lauren Gunderson in July, and Jane Austen's "Sense & Sensibility" by Kate Hamill in August. OSP returns to the Water Stage outdoors for "Richard III" in September.

Shakespeare in the Park is a great opportunity to see fantastic all-round productions in a unique setting. OSP is a non-profit organization that employs roughly 120 theater artists every summer and strives to "produce bold, re-imagined, entertaining and accessible interpretations of Shakespeare and the classics." As this Chamber staffer can attest, they  certainly succeed at pulling this off. Check it out!
