Midtown Walkabout returns to OKC this spring

Midtown Walkabout is back, offering Oklahoma City residents a chance to soak up the vibrant atmosphere of Midtown on Saturday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. With a mix of shopping, dining and entertainment, Midtown has something for everyone, making the Walkabout an eagerly anticipated event.

Traditionally a bi-annual affair, this year's Walkabout takes on a fresh twist amidst the ongoing renovations and improvements within the district. For the very first time, the stretch from Park Place to NW 11th St. will be transformed into "Walkabout On Walker Ave," with the entire area shut down to traffic. This expansion allows attendees ample opportunity to explore the diverse businesses that define the Midtown experience.

Jakey Dobbs, Midtown District Manager, shared her enthusiasm for the event's evolution, stating, “We have some exciting additions and developments happening along Walker this year. We want to keep the energy alive on Walker Avenue as four key buildings are in transition, so it was a great opportunity to try something new with this bi-annual event in its ninth year.”

Midtown Walkabout caters to all tastes and ages, with a myriad of attractions to enjoy. "Walkabout On Walker Ave" will feature a lively assortment of activities, including caricatures, face painting, a typewriter poet, yard games and interactive art installations.

Live music will also be played throughout the day, while a pop-up market will showcase local goods and treasures. Families can head to the kids’ zone for a host of delights, including cold drinks, balloons, magic tricks, and even complimentary bouquets, courtesy of Curbside Flowers for the first 250 guests.

Just north of Downtown OKC, Midtown District pulsates with energy, offering a historic backdrop intertwined with modern amenities. Beyond its bustling streets, the district's versatile spaces are also capable of hosting a myriad of events, enriching the community experience.
