The Oklahoma Business Opportunity Conference, themed “Advanced Manufacturing,” will connect Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) with corporations seeking procurement opportunities with diverse suppliers.
Sponsored by OG&E Energy Corp., the one-day event, scheduled for July 25th, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., will feature networking sessions, roundtable discussions and a trade show, culminating in a 25th Anniversary reception.
Organized by the Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council (SMSDC), the conference aims to create opportunities and an environment for MBEs to grow and to actively add value for corporate members through positive business relationships.
Key speakers at the conference include Dusty Nimmo, director of supply chain at OG&E, and Gayle Maxwell, director of corporate communications for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Their insights are expected to set the tone for the event, focusing on the integration of advanced manufacturing in supply chain management and corporate communications.
Diversifying the supplier base is crucial not only for a company’s health but also for the health of the community. With the global supply chain crisis, expanding supplier options is a smart business strategy that ensures companies can withstand future disruptions.
The event will also feature the SMSDC’s certified MBEs presenting their marketing strategies during the MBE/Supplier Showcase, followed by a trade show where participants can engage with potential business partners and explore procurement opportunities.
The conference will honor outstanding achievements in the industry with the Corporation of the Year, Supplier of the Year and Advocate of the Year awards. The awards program will be followed by a champagne toast and the 25th Anniversary Closing Reception, celebrating the conference’s milestone year.
