Run to raise funds in this year’s Outpace Cancer Race

OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center is encouraging locals to help raise funds for cancer research by joining its annual Outpace Cancer Race April 1.
The Outpace Cancer Race includes 10K and 5K events, as well as a one-mile walk in support of cancer patients and their families. The event honors the lives lost and funds further research that will support Oklahomans currently fighting cancer. Every dollar donated remains in the state.
Separate 5K and one-mile events will be held for children, aged 3-13.
The event site will open at 7 a.m., welcoming racers and allowing for a pre-race stretch. The 10K race will kick off the day’s events shortly after, followed by the 5K race, then the one-mile walk.
Racers will take off from the Cancer Center campus before looping their way through the Innovation District, between Lincoln Boulevard and Lottie Avenue.
Top racers will be awarded at 9:15 a.m., following the completion of the races.
OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center is the largest and most comprehensive oncology practice in Oklahoma and the state’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-Designated Cancer Center. The cancer center is the top-ranked center in the nation for the number of people participating in NCI-sponsored clinical trials. In 2022, Stephenson Cancer Center researchers made national news as OK-1 – a new cancer drug conceived, created and developed entirely in Oklahoma – began its Phase 1 clinical trial.
The Outpace Cancer Race will help fund further studies and trials as the center works to redefine cancer’s impact. Registration is open online. Prices are set to increase after March 24.
