The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County (BGCOC) has been selected by the Oklahoma City Council as the operating partner for the youth centers proposed in MAPS 4.

Local voters approved $118 million in MAPS 4 funds in 2019 for the development of at least four youth centers across Oklahoma City. The centers will provide athletics, arts, family, health and education programming to the city’s youth.

“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County dedicates itself to serving youth through empowering academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles,” Teena Belcik, president & CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County said in a news release.

“Partnering with the city on the MAPS 4 youth centers project is a golden opportunity to support the Oklahoma City community and further our mission to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most.”

Located in various sections of the city, each center will acclimatize to its surrounding environment. Each center’s operator will work to connect with the surrounding community.

“Youth centers are a critical component for our city today and for the next generation,” MAPS Program Manager David Todd said.

“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County will be an invaluable partner on this project as we begin the extensive site selection, design and construction process for these centers.”

Official site selections for the youth centers are expected to be made this year.
