Deadline extended for state’s REAL ID program
Oklahoma joined the list of states who will be switching to a REAL ID in order to be compliant with the new standards set forth by the United States Department of Homeland Security. REAL ID cards will be necessary to board any type of commercial aircraft after Oct. 1, 2021. The extension from Sept. 15, 2020 was in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety is planning to issue Real IDs beginning April 30. The department has taken measures to meet the expected crush of applicants that will enter doors.
All state tag agencies and each DMV site in the state will have the tools to help Oklahomans with the change.
