Dressing Thunder Proud for the NBA Playoffs

Our OKC Thunder is back in the NBA Playoffs and the first game is this Sunday, April 21 at the Paycom Center. If you’re looking for ways to feel stylish and pulled together while supporting the home team, we’ve got you covered.

While a T-shirt or a jersey is what you normally grab, elevating your Thunder style is easy.

“Wearing Thunder colors and enhancing your outfit with a fun necklace or a sporty, statement sneaker will elevate your look,” said Tyler Marchant, co-owner of Oklahoma City-based boutique Refinery.

With the first game being this weekend, an option you most likely have in your closet is a white shirt and jeans (guys, this goes for you too). If dark denim is your choice, pair it with a crisp, white button down and a colorful necklace. If white denim is more your speed, choose a top with shades of blue or orange. Depending on the weather, a blazer or jacket would be a great look with either the dark or white denim.  For shoes, think stylish sneakers, a metallic flat or a colorful wedge.

Denim on denim is making a comeback and would look oh-so-stylish for an upcoming game. You can match your denim, or you can go one to two shades lighter from top to bottom. This LeJean vest paired with a wide leg jean would easily work for pre-game drinks or dinner, then take you straight to the game. A belt or scarf with a pop of orange would give it some extra Thunder flair.

If you’re going straight from the office to the game, think of outfits that will easily transition by changing shoes or adding a different jacket. This blue striped dress from Munthe is perfect for work with a blazer and a pair of heels. To make it game-time ready, swap heels for a sneaker and add a jean jacket. Another work to game day option is a button -down dress, like this French blue poplin with blue rhinestone embellishments. For daytime, wear a wedge or heel and then switch to a sneaker or flat before you head to the game.

Thinking of going all out with your Thunder style? These light blue metallic cropped jeans will make you a courtside standout. Keep the top simple -- think a white T-shirt or a tank with a white button down over it just in case it’s chilly.

And if you just can’t quit wearing your favorite Thunder t-shirt, adding an accessory or two will go a long way in making you feel pulled together. Do a front tuck with your t-shirt, belt your jeans, and throw on a blazer or bomber jacket.
