Employee, firefighter and police officer of the year honored at Council meeting
The City Council and South Oklahoma City Kiwanis Club honored a police officer, Emergency Management employee and a firefighter as Oklahoma City’s employees of the year for their outstanding performance and dedication in 2018.
Lt. Audrea George, a City employee for 21 years, was honored as the police officer of the year. George is the Special Events Supervisor in the Police Department’s Uniform Support Division, working many evenings and weekends to keep people safe during special events. Her professionalism while overseeing safety and security for hundreds of special events, especially during OKC Streetcar construction, made her stand out.
Christina Tran, Community Relations Coordinator for the Office of Emergency Management, was honored as employee of the year. She’s been with the City for two years and helps prepare the community for disasters. She was recognized for her initiative and creativity, reaching more than 9,500 residents in 44 community outreach events.
Maj. Louis Marschik was honored as firefighter of the year. Marschick was honored for developing the Fire Department’s OK Child program, educating children on motor vehicle safety, fire and burn prevention, poisons, falls, firearm safety, bike and pedestrian safety, water safety and severe weather safety. A 25-year City employee, he was honored for his hard work and diligence, and also for helping to redevelop the Citizens Fire Academy.
The Council and Kiwanis Club honor the employee, firefighter and police officer of the year every January.
