Exhibit C Gallery expands in Horizons District

By Chamber Staff / Inside OKC / December 31, 2024

The Chickasaw Nation-owned Exhibit C Gallery is set to relocate to a new 10,000-square-foot space in Oklahoma City’s Horizons District in early 2025. Positioned next to the First Americans Museum (FAM) and the forthcoming OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark, the reimagined gallery will offer expanded exhibits and introduce artist studio spaces.

Since opening in 2014, Exhibit C has showcased First American artists to millions of visitors annually. The new location will double its size and include up to seven rental studios exclusively for First American artists, providing spaces for artistic development, live demonstrations, and interactive visitor experiences.

The gallery will also collaborate with FAM to deliver immersive educational programs and rotating exhibits. Its exterior will feature prominent First American artwork, including a commissioned facade by Chickasaw contemporary artist Addison Karl.

"In the intricate interplay of forms and symbols within this artwork, we forge a powerful visual and spiritual connection between generations," Karl said. "It is a testament to our people's resilience, adaptability, and unwavering connection to our ancestral roots."

The Horizons District, located along the downtown riverfront, is positioned to become a central First American cultural destination, featuring FAM, OKANA Resort, and the new Exhibit C Gallery, which will also host private events.

“With the relocation of Exhibit C Gallery to the Horizons District, in collaboration with FAM and OKANA, our goal is to make this district of Oklahoma City the top First American destination in the United States,” said Paige Williams Shepherd, Chickasaw Nation Director of Tourism.
