Oklahoma City Council has approved the donation of nine acres of land near South Shields Boulevard and SE 3rd Street for the MAPS 4 Multipurpose Stadium, a key project that promises to reshape the area. The stadium, designed to host everything from professional soccer to concerts, will be a central feature in a larger entertainment district.

“Design is now underway on the Multipurpose Stadium, which will include a regulation-sized playing surface capable of accommodating high school, collegiate, and professional soccer competitions, football, as well as concerts, festivals and other similar events,” said MAPS Program Manager David Todd. “While MAPS 4 and economic development funds will construct the stadium, the operator was responsible for securing the site. This central location and its potential for surrounding development make it an ideal spot for the stadium, which will anchor a future entertainment district.”

This project is part of Echo’s vision to transform the area into a thriving sports and entertainment hub. In July, Echo acquired land from Producers Downtown Development, located just east of the Oklahoma City Convention Center and south of Bricktown. The company, through its sports and entertainment affiliate Echo Soccer, plans to work with Robinson Park to develop the surrounding area into a bustling district.

“I am honored to partner with the City of OKC in advancing a core MAPS 4 project,” said Christian Kanady, founding partner and CEO of Echo. “The future Multipurpose Stadium will be at the heart of a new entertainment district, bringing more than just professional soccer to our community. It will host top-tier sports, music, and entertainment events, adding to the vibrancy of downtown and improving the quality of life for all.”

With $71 million allocated for the project, including $41 million from MAPS 4, the stadium will seat 12,300 and include locker rooms, suites and Oklahoma City’s first US Soccer Federation-approved pitch. It will be the city's premier venue for both men’s and women’s professional soccer.

This stadium is just the beginning of an exciting transformation for the area. It will help drive the development of a sports-centered entertainment district, similar to successful models in cities like Washington, D.C., and Orlando. The area will connect seamlessly to nearby landmarks, including Scissortail Park, Myriad Gardens, the new OKC Thunder arena across from Paycom Center and the rebranded OKC Comets ballpark.
