OKC ranks third in the nation for lowest retirement age

Spending one’s entire life in the office is far from the norm for Oklahoma residents. Though the national average retirement in the United States today is 64 years old, Oklahoma’s average retirement age sits two years earlier at 62.

Oklahoma’s average retirement age was ranked as the 3^rd-lowest average retirement age in the nation (tied with seven other states). Among the seven states who tied for the low average retirement age, Oklahoma had the 2^nd-lowest annual cost of a comfortable retirement as well as the 2^nd-lowest amount of savings needed to retire.

According to the article released by Yahoo! Finance, the annual cost of a comfortable retirement in our state is $48,716. The typical retiree in Oklahoma should expect to have $876,879 in savings at retirement.
