Oklahoma City Parks and the North OKC Soccer Club hosted a ribbon cutting and community carnival on September 8 to celebrate the beginning of the first phase of remodeling and expanding the C.B. Cameron Sports Complex.

The complex, a central hub for North OKC Soccer, features five new rectangular athletic fields, along with improved concessions, field lighting, restrooms, parking and a new entrance located at 4000 NW 122nd St.

The renovations of the complex are funded through a $5 million Better Streets, Safer City bond program. This program, consisting of 13 bond propositions and two sales tax initiatives, was passed by Oklahoma City voters in 2017 with the intention to invest in streets, traffic infrastructure and sidewalks along streets to enhance the city’s roadway infrastructure system.

Aside from funds provided for the complex, North OKC Soccer also received a generous monetary gift. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Civic Leader Tom McDaniel announced a $500,000 donation to the soccer club from the Cameron Family Foundation.

Along with McDaniel, Mayor David Holt, former Mayor Mick Cornett, Oklahoma City Ward 8 Councilman Mark Stonecipher, OKC Parks Director Melinda McMillan-Miller, North OKC Soccer President Gabi Noble, Coaching Director Stephen Phillips and Inasmuch Foundation CEO Bob Ross were in attendance to celebrate the ribbon cutting.

Future phases of the sports complex will begin in 2025. These next phases of the C.B. Cameron Complex will include additional fields and amenities due to an investment from MAPS 4 and private contributions.
