Oklahoma City named a top city for creatives

The arts serve a crucial role in activating culture and community. The arts are part of our genetics in OKC.
Through our commitment to public art, our fabulous museums and galleries, and the entertainment options that thrive on musical and theatrical genius, our community is drenched in creative talent. We’ve been noticed on a national scale for the creativity we take pride in. Oklahoma City was recently named by Thrillist as one of the nation’s “Great American Cities for Creatives (That You Can Actually Afford to Live In).”
This list includes spots around the country that fall on the full livability spectrum: artist communities; a good dose of nature; a food, art, beer, and/or music scene; and a level of relative affordability.
In addition to highlighting Oklahoma City’s low cost of a one-bedroom rental at the median price of $933/month, they shared that we are “one of only 14 in the US to add more than 100,000 residents in the last census, leap-frogging the likes of Las Vegas and Portland to become the nation’s 22nd largest” city. Thrillist acknowledged our recent acclaim as number one in the nation for street art, something you may have caught from this VeloCity story released in June 2021.
