Oklahoma City ranks most affordable for vacation destinations in the nation

As a resident, you may not think of Oklahoma City as a vacation destination, but a recent study released by ParkSleepFly may encourage you to second-guess. Though our city is not near the beach nor the mountains, there are plenty of things to enjoy about the metro area. One, in particular, is its affordability.

Oklahoma City scored 8.58 out of 10 on the affordability scale created by ParkSleepFly. In comparison to the cost of New York City, a vacationer could enjoy their stay in Oklahoma City for three times longer for the same price.

The score was based on the cost of a domestic 0.5-liter draft beer; a midrange bottle of wine, a meal in an inexpensive restaurant, the average 1-kilometer taxi fare, a one-way ticket on local transit, and the cost of a nightly weekend stay at a hotel.

Building on the success of MAPS, Bricktown, the arrival of the Thunder and more, consider the expansion of local breweries, creative cuisine, museums, public art, attractions like RIVERSPORT OKC and hotel accommodations that have surfaced in the past several years. Places like Chamber Member Omni Hotel, Scissortail Park, Oklahoma Contemporary, the First Americans Museum, and the new Oklahoma City Convention Center represent only a few of the incredible amenities  that have shaped Oklahoma City into a place where people are both excited to visit and return – as well as live.

Whether you are a local looking for a staycation or a visitor from across state lines, you won’t be disappointed by Oklahoma City’s options in food, arts, culture, accommodation, and entertainment. Our city continues to grow and expand in positive ways as both a great place to live, work, and travel.
