Oklahoma City’s Positive Tomorrows has been recognized as a Cognia School of Distinction.

The recognition is given to schools within the accreditation organization’s network that exemplify the Cognia Performance Standards, which includes a culture that promotes leadership, engagement and growth in learning.

“Our accreditation is a critical tool that ensures we are delivering a world-class education to our students,” Positive Tomorrows President and CEO Margaret Creighton said, while complimenting the school’s staff in preparing for its site assessment and accreditation engagement review by Cognia.

“The recognition as a Cognia School of Distinction attests to the phenomenal work this school is doing, ensuring that the culture and leadership provides a strong foundation for engagement and growth,” Cognia Southwest Region Director Christina McCreary said.

“It is with immense pride that Cognia recognizes and honors this stellar Oklahoma school.”

Cognia recognizes institutions based on research and evidence-based criteria, which examine the schools’ policies, programs, practices, learning conditions and cultural context to determine how well each school’s criteria aligns with its vision for students. Once accredited, schools repeat a similar process every five years to maintain distinctions.

Positive Tomorrows, a private yet tuition-free school specifically serving children and families experiencing homelessness, was selected as one of under 100 schools from more than 1,500 eligible institutions around the world to receive the honor. As the state’s only all-in-one school and social service agency, Positive Tomorrows provides a stable, educational environment for students while working with parents to create a successful home life.
