TEEM kicks off fresh start hygiene drive

The Education and Employment Ministry (TEEM) is holding a hygiene drive to help give justice-involved individuals a fresh start. 

TEEM is a nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking cycles of incarceration and poverty. Its programs include a pretrial release initiative, a diversion program and reentry services. They connect participants with life stabilizing resources such as housing, job training, transportation and mental health care. Hygienic items such as soap, shampoo and deodorant are essential to people trying to rebuild their lives.  

“We firmly believe that access to proper hygiene resources is vital for personal well-being and can significantly contribute to someone’s quality of life,” said Matt Staples, TEEM outreach and volunteer coordinator. “This drive gives our participants a fresh start as they work to rebuild their lives.” 

Donated items go directly to TEEM participants working to address their challenges and become self-sufficient. TEEM is asking metro-area businesses, churches and schools to serve as donation drop-off locations.  

“By joining forces, we can make a significant impact and bring about positive change together,” Staples said. 

Anyone interested in hosting a collection box can sign up on TEEM's website. Items will be collected until Sept. 1.
