Ask the Chamber: How do I get a hunting and fishing license in Oklahoma City?

By Tony Nguyen / Lifestyle / April 5, 2022

Before you start cleaning your firearms and setting up your fishing rods (or shopping for that matter), let’s dig into the wallet and make sure your hunting and fishing licenses are still current and valid. Don’t have one and are new to hunting and fishing? Need a refresher and ready to renew? You’ve come to the right place – let’s get started!

In general, the most popular licensing options for both hunting and fishing include annual, five-year and lifetime licenses. Here’s a quick rundown on current licensing rates:

Hunting:

  • Annual – $25
  • Five-year – $88
  • Lifetime – $625

Fishing:

  • Annual – $25
  • Five-year – $88
  • Lifetime – $225

Rates above are specifically for Oklahoma residents. In Oklahoma City, you will need a city fishing license (daily $5, three-day $10, annual $20) in addition to your state fishing license for verification to fish at local lakes and rivers. Want to fish for free? It’s good to know Oklahoma offers a free weekend of fishing – which is the first weekend of June (June 4-5, 2022). Also, the City of Oklahoma City has a resource page with key information to help get your plan started.

The Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Department offers licenses for non-residents, youth, seniors and hunting/fishing combination at separate rate amounts. Restrictions and details on how to apply for a license of your interest are provided by the Oklahoma Hunt Club and fishing.org. Apply or renew today – happy hunting and fishing, OKC!
