Get ready to Van Gogh to the OKCMOA's French art exhibition
Van Gogh, Monet, Degas: three titans of the artistic world. These are three names that are so prolific that I don’t even need to introduce them—because you already know exactly who they are. But did you know that some of their work will soon be on display at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art?
From June 22 – September 22 the Mellon Collection of French art from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts will be on display at the OKCMOA. “Featuring more than seventy works by French and European masters such as Degas, Manet, Monet, Rousseau and Van Gogh, this exhibition celebrates Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mellon’s extraordinary gift of nineteenth and early twentieth-century French art to the VMFA.” The grand opening is June 22, but members can receive free admission and early access (June 21) to the exhibition. Furthermore, the Moderns Preview is on June 20.
Whether you’re an art history buff yearning to get a closer look at some of the works of some of the biggest names in French art, a casual art appreciator who wants to take advantage of this rare opportunity to see these paintings up close, or even a novice who just wants to see what’s made this collection so beloved, this exhibition is sure to thrill. You can learn more about the exhibition on the OKCMOA’s website.
