Grow get some farmerís market merchandise
Even in the midst of the pandemic, you can still get your farmer’s market fix in Greater OKC. In addition to the venerable OSU-OKC Farmer’s Market moving to Scissortail Park in the near future (stay tuned for updates and dates and such), there are a few other options for the freshest of fresh produce, locally-produced foodstuffs and other products.
The Historic Farmers Public Market’s Saturday Market is open and marketing the fruits (and veggies, etc.) of the labor of local farmers, producers and other purveyors of fine artisanal products, with certain rules and guidelines to keep everyone safe. Hit it up downtown (311 S. Klein Ave.) from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
Urban Agrarian is a great everyday option for fresh produce and other items. They’re centrally located (in the Farmer’s Market district, along with a second location downtown Edmond) and are (as of this writing) handling call-in orders only in the interest of safety. You can pull up a product list on their website and then give them a call. It’s an easy-peasy way to get your hands on peas, peppers, peanuts, popcorn, potatoes, pasta, pancake mix and a plethora of other produce and pantry items!
The Paseo Farmers Market is postponing their open-air Saturday weekly markets currently, but they are partnering with local Paseo businesses to provide some of the best of the Paseo and all in Greater OKC via a new online portal (pre-order Monday – Thursday, pick it up Saturday at the Red Rooster). Check it out!
If you live near Norman, check out the Norman Farm Market at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. Visit the Facebook page to get updates on produce and opening details.
Guthrie’s Conscious Community Co-Op is open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily with a variety of items, fresh and prepacked goodness, for those up north.
Speaking of up north, the Edmond Farmer’s Market, typically held Saturdays at the Festival Marketplace and Wednesdays at Mitch Park, are looking at opening soon “with shopping modifications.” Check their Facebook page for details.
