Halloween in OKC: Festivities, fun and safety

By Chamber Staff / Lifestyle / October 31, 2025

Halloween in Oklahoma City brings family fun, creative costumes and community spirit across the Modern Frontier. As residents head out to celebrate, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy the holiday safely and memorably.

Trick-or-treating in OKC

Oct. 31 is trick-or-treat night in OKC. The city does not set official hours, but families typically begin after sunset. Residents who plan to hand out candy should turn on their porch lights to signal participation.

For community fun, OKC Parks & Recreation offers Halloween Harvest events from 5 to 8 p.m. at four sites across the city:

  • Minnis Lakeview Community Center, 12520 NE 36th St.
  • Pitts Community Center, 1920 N. Kate Ave.
  • Southern Oaks Community Center, 400 SW 66th St.
  • Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center, 909 Frederick Douglass Ave.

These free, come-and-go events feature trick-or-treating, games, face painting, crafts, food and other activities for all ages. Glow-in-the-dark sports are planned at the Southern Oaks Community Center.

For seniors, Halloween Harvest for Seniors takes place from 1 to 2 p.m. at two centers:

  • Will Rogers Senior Center, 3501 Pat Murphy Drive
  • Pete White Health and Wellness Center, 4021 S. Walker Ave.

Both gatherings include games, light refreshments and a costume contest. They are free and open to the public.

Halloween weekend festivities

Halloween weekend in OKC offers fun for every age and thrill level.

Adults looking to celebrate Halloween night can take part in Haunt the River, a themed Oklahoma River Cruise featuring music, seasonal décor, food and a cash bar. The cruise lasts an hour and a half and is open to guests 21 and older. The final cruise departs Oct. 31, and advance tickets are required.

Families can visit Haunt the Zoo, where children collect candy at 14 treat stations throughout the OKC Zoo. This 42-year tradition continues Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 1–2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

At Orr Family Farm, guests can enjoy more than 25 fall attractions, including super slides, cannon blasters, gemstone mining and jumping pillows. The festival runs through Nov. 8 and offers plenty of outdoor fun for families.

Those spending Halloween night at OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark can join the Halloween Inflatable Bash: Jack-O-Splat & Bounce Spooktacula, featuring inflatables, pumpkin decorating, a magic show, a costume parade and a Monster Bash dance party. Trick-or-treating across the property runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $9.99 per person, and resort guests get in free.

For thrill seekers, Curse of the Comets transforms Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark into a haunted attraction Oct. 30–31. The immersive experience takes guests through eerie ballpark scenes. Entry is limited to guests 12 and older, and minors ages 12–15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All guests must sign a waiver before entering.

Those looking for a spooky night out can also catch Jewel Box Theatre’s production of “Murder on the Orient Express.” The show runs through Nov. 2, offering a two-hour mystery perfect for Halloween weekend.

For thrill seekers, Fright Fest at Frontier City continues through Nov. 1, and shifts the amusement park’s thrill from daytime rollercoasters to nighttime haunted houses. In addition to horrifying haunted houses, Fright Fest includes shows to keep guests entertained with a variety of activities.

Halloween safety reminders

To keep the evening enjoyable, OKC officials and public safety leaders share these reminders:

  • Children under 12 should be supervised by an adult.
  • Check that costumes fit properly and don’t obstruct vision.
  • Add reflective tape or carry flashlights to increase visibility.
  • Use crosswalks, look both ways before crossing streets and stay on well-lit routes.
  • Only approach homes with porch lights on and never enter a house for candy.
  • Drivers should slow down and watch for children crossing the street.
  • Homeowners should clear walkways of yard stakes, hoses or toys that could cause trips or falls.

For pet owners:

  • Keep candy, especially chocolate, away from pets.
  • Ensure pets wear identification tags or have microchips.
  • Consider keeping dogs in a separate room during peak trick-or-treat hours.
  • Avoid costumes that limit movement or vision.
  • Keep pets away from open flames in jack-o-lanterns.
