Mix up happy hour with the OKBio BrewFest on October 21

If you like supporting Oklahoma’s local breweries, wineries, and distilleries, you need to check out the OKBio Brewfest on this Thursday, October 21 in the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The event brings in vendors from around the state to showcase the best beer, wine, and liquor Oklahoma has to offer.

“BrewFest began in 2013 by the OKBIO Association as a fundraiser and a way to bring the community together while showcasing the new craft beer scene across the state,” said Sarah Seagraves, Senior VP of Marketing at i2E. “The event was so successful we moved it to a larger venue in the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The concourse is an ideal covered location but is still a semi-outdoor setting with a view of the field. It all makes for a festive atmosphere.”

People who attend the annual BrewFest event come from a diverse range of backgrounds and professions, though a significant portion of attendees come from within Oklahoma’s bio community. It’s a great opportunity to meet people and network in a social distance-friendly environment.

There will be plenty of space on the concourse to spread out and enjoy the outdoor setting, and the weather looks perfect for a light jacket for those ready to bring out their fall attire.

“One of the comments we hear most often is that our event allows our patrons to meet and talk to the brewers, wineries and distilleries, ask questions, suggest flavors and get to know the process, or as we call it, the science behind the beer,” said Seagraves. “We intentionally keep the attendance to around 400 so the lines are shorter and it’s not so crowded that you get lost and frustrated with the wait time.”

The event is well organized and great for the casual drinker or the soon-to-be connoisseur. “We provide beer cards that list all the vendors and what they will be pouring. It’s become almost a game for some of our repeat guests to rank their favorites,” said Seagraves. “It also makes it easy for people to find the vendors they really want to sample. They can take the card with them and the next time they are at a restaurant or purchasing beverages, they can make a more informed decision.”

In addition to the limitless adult beverages to taste, the concession stands will be open for people to enjoy their favorite ballpark foods. Seagraves said, “Even though we are surrounded by numerous Bricktown restaurants, some of our attendees may want to grab a hotdog and take a seat and enjoy the people watching. We consider BrewFest to be the ultimate networking event with a bonus of Oklahoma craft beer, wine, and spirits – and this year ballpark food on the concourse!”

The BrewFest is open to anyone over 21. General admission costs $35 and includes a BrewFest T-shirt for the first 300 registered, a 16 oz BrewFest mug (sponsored by the OKC Chamber), unlimited 5 oz tastings of craft beer, wine, and spirits, and free parking at Joe Carter Ave & Reno. A $10 off discount is offered for Military and group rates. Learn more about the event and register here.
