New Deep Deuce restaurant roundup
What's that over there and what's that over there and what's that over there and what's that over there? If you've been in Deep Deuce recently, you've undoubtedly asked yourself this question, as four new restaurant spaces have recently hit the environs of the fabled "Deep Second."
- La Baguette Deep Deuce - describing itself as a "Parisian café with an American twist," this fresh take on a metro area favorite offers a variety of equally fresh pastries and bakery items in addition to grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, charcuterie, chocolate mice and other treats (author's note: and some of the friendliest service around) and is located on Northeast 4th St. and Walnut Ave., next to the next two places on the list, Black Walnut and Grey Sweater.
- Black Walnut - sister concept to La Baguette and Grey Sweater, Black Walnut is, while casual in its own way, perhaps also the uptown girl of the group, featuring fantastic cocktails, wine and a rather sumptuous-looking menu. On weekends, Black Walnut partners with La Baguette for brunch!
- Grey Sweater - if Black Walnut is the uptown girl, Grey Sweater is the haute cuisine queen, as this tasting menu restaurant (due to be open soon) plans a three-tiered tasting menu featuring renowned chef Andrew Black (who is also behind the adjoining restaurants).
- Whiskey Biscuit - with a breakfast/lunch, dinner and kids menu, Whiskey Biscuit offers a variety of choices and settings, from avocado egg rolls on the patio to pork chops and steaks at the bar to waffles indoors and everything in between. It's located on Northeast 2nd St. between N. Central Ave. and Russell M. Perry Ave.
