One of the best ways residents feel at ease in a new city is by knowing information about it. The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber makes that material easy to find every year in its annual Welcome Guide.
The 2021 Welcome Guide is now available and is packed with information for Oklahoma City’s newest residents. There are sections loaded with detail about the city’s history, neighborhoods, schools, climate and weather, the economy and, of course, what to do and where to go for fun.

The guide is an informative tool for companies and businesses to use when recruiting new talent to the city.
“We understand the importance of recruiting talent for mission critical positions. The Welcome Guide is just one of a suite of products we provide to help our members recruit and retain talent. Moving to a new city is such a big decision for any person or family – the more information we can provide, and the more resources, the more likely someone will make the move,” said Cynthia Reid, the Chamber’s senior vice president for marketing and communications.
Each year, the publication is updated to the changes the city has seen. This year’s cover features a photo of downtown Oklahoma City at dusk with vibrant, colorful shots of several buildings and attractions relatively new to the downtown landscape, including the Omni Hotel and Scissortail Park.
The guide includes information about how Oklahoma City residents continue to invest in themselves by passing major bond issues and funding initiatives such as MAPS 4 to continue the renaissance the city has witnessed over the last two decades. There are also details about the city’s growing industries, such as aerospace, logistics and distribution, and biomedical. Potential residents can read about new attractions such as the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center and learn more about one of the city’s original biomedical institutions, the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
In addition to the digital version, printed copies can be ordered at ABetterLifeOKC.com for businesses interested in using the guide as a recruiting tool, as well as sign up forms for weekly The Better Life OKC and VeloCity digest emails to get connected to our community and to stay on top of what's going on in OKC, respectively.
