Mark your calendar for the official kickoff to Downtown in December, a collection of holiday events and attractions in downtown Oklahoma City from November through January. The festivities begin with the Oklahoma City Tree Lighting Festival on Thursday, November 16th, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This festive community event, held for the 22nd year, welcomes everyone to join Mayor David Holt and Santa Claus for an evening of holiday cheer. The celebration, held at the Mickey Mantle Plaza outside the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, offers a range of family-friendly activities including DIY photos with Santa, caricatures, balloon art and more.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to accompany their children to the Letters to Santa Station where kids can write letters to Santa and drop them in a North Pole mailbox. Attendees can also decorate downtown-themed holiday postcards to take home or mail. The event also features free treats from Bricktown businesses, including popcorn from Harkins Theatre, fondue samples from The Melting Pot, holiday glazed ham samples from Rodizio Grill and Hot Caramel Apple Crisp samples from Mickey Mantle’s Steakhouse.

The highlight of the evening is the diverse holiday performances leading up to the lighting of the tree. It will be lit around 7 p.m. and will be on display until Christmas Day, shining brighter than ever with new LED lighting and ornament enhancements.

The performances include favorites like Lyric Theatre’s ‘A Christmas Carol’ cast, Lyric Theatre Academy Students, Jabee, Hưng Việt Drum Show and Lion Dancers, Oklahoma City Ballet, RACE Dance Collective and Yumare Mexican Folkloric Dancers. This event marks the beginning of a vibrant holiday season in downtown Oklahoma City, filled with activities, shopping, dining and festive energy.
