Oklahoma City University will host "Killers of the Flower Moon" author in free speaker series

Oklahoma City University (OKCU) is hosting “Killers of the Flower Moon” author David Grann next week as part of its Martha Jean Lemon Distinguished Speaker Series. 

The event will be held on Tuesday, September 13, at the Freede Wellness and Activity Center on the OKCU campus located at Florida Avenue and Northwest 27th Street. 

Doors open at 6 p.m., with the presentation starting at 7 p.m., followed by a book signing. The presentation is free and open to the public. 

Grann is also the author of “The Lost City of Z,” which along with “Killers of the Flower Moon,” has been adapted into a motion picture. He is currently a writer for The New Yorker.  

OKCU Media Relations spokesperson, Rod Jones, said the series features annual events that enrich the academic environment for the university and the surrounding community.  

“Programs may relate to the arts and sciences, business, dance and entertainment, law, music, nursing, theater, or religious topics,” he said.  

He added that OKCU has hosted other speakers previously, including David Brooks, Marian Wright Edelman, Henry Louis Gates, Jane Goodall, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Jonathan Kozol, and more.
