Park once and visit all the things

So you want to visit downtown, but you don’t want to have to drive to one destination, find parking, then drive to another and find parking again. Luckily, there’s an easy solution.

You can ride the OKC Streetcar. And if you pay to park at an EMBARK-owned garage, riding the streetcar could cost you no extra dollars.

EMBARK has launched a program to allow two adults to ride the streetcar for free when they show their EMBARK parking garage ticket.

But which garages does EMBARK own? They’re at the Century Center, 100 W. Main, the Cox Convention Center, 1 Myriad Gardens, Sheridan/Walker at 501 W. Sheridan and in the Arts District, 431 W. Main (it’s multi-colored). There’s another garage under construction near the new Oklahoma City Convention Center and Omni Hotel. It’s wrapped in a giant piece of art.

There are streetcar stops near all of these garages, so it’s easy to park then hop on the air-conditioned streetcar to get to your destination.

Of course, you also have the option to park along the street, even closer to the streetcar, but depending on the time you arrive, you might have to pay to park. Parking in downtown is free after 6 p.m. on weekdays and on the weekends.

But for the sake of all other riders, if you park along the streetcar route itself, be sure to park within the white lines. If your mirror or your tire is over the line, the streetcar will stop and honk, holding up the rest of the system. You do not want to be the person who causes this.
