Paseo Arts Festival is back and seeking volunteers

With the 44th Annual Paseo Arts Festival just weeks away, the anticipation is starting to build as it has been a long time in the making. Originally planned for May of 2020 this Memorial Day weekend creative rite of passage for many Oklahoma Citians will finally come to fruition instead on this Labor Day weekend. Moved temporarily due to COVID-19, the festival is primed and ready to go forward with all precautions being taken following CDC guidelines.

 “We want the community to feel safe as best they can considering the current conditions. We support mask-wearing, frequent hand sanitizer use and social distancing wherever possible,” says PAA Executive Director Amanda Bleakley. 

This year, because of the scheduling change, some extra volunteers are needed. Just head over to thepaseo.org and sign up to serve.

Nearly one hundred nationally acclaimed visual artists will fill out this year’s roster. The street will be overflowing with original art from ceramics to photography, jewelry to woodworking and just about everything in between. It‘s a demiurgic deluge. Visitors are sure to find something they can personally curate into their collection.

Last year, the Oklahoma Gazette’s readers voted the festival Best Free Entertainment. This is due not only to the copious amounts of visual art and but also to the more than fifty musical acts and over twenty food vendors adding to the existing critically-acclaimed culinary arts scene.

What makes the Paseo Arts Festival truly amazing is the community that supports it. This year, because of the scheduling change, some extra volunteers are needed. This is a great chance to become a part of the OKC art scene family in a way you may have not experienced before. The Paseo Arts Festival will be taking place on Labor Day Weekend, September 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. with live music until 10 p.m., and September 6 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. The Paseo Arts Festival is the largest annual fundraiser for the Paseo Arts Association. The money raised through beverage and merchandise sales directly supports the mission of the 501(c)3 nonprofit, and is used to put on your favorite Paseo programs and events provided to the community year-round, such as Fairy Ball, Magic Lantern, SPACE, FEAST and First Friday Gallery Walks.
