Preparing you for the workforce

With more than 19 public and private universities and 230,000 students, it is not hyperbole to say that no matter what career you have in mind, you can get the training you need in Oklahoma City. The state’s two flagship universities, the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University, are both located in the region and have garnered world-renowned recognition in a variety of fields. Oklahoma City also boasts some of the most well-thought-of degrees for the performing arts (Oklahoma City University) and we even have a school that prepares students for careers in contemporary music (ACM@UCO). Honestly, there is so much diversity in education offerings in our region it is hard to list them all here. Check out the university section of our website for more.

Of course, four-year colleges and universities are not the only paths to getting well-paying jobs these days. That is why Oklahoma features a robust CareerTech system that provides highly-technically training. There are nine CareerTech schools in our region alone. Statewide, the system provides training to more than 420,000 each year and has a presence in nearly 400 PK-12 school districts.

Earlier this year, five of Oklahoma City’s major CareerTech providers came together to form Onward OKC. By pooling resources, Onward OKC streamlines access to training for business owners, HR managers, and job seekers, eliminating the guesswork for its customers while assuring they are getting quality training designed to meet their specific needs. That means our residents who are trained in our CareerTech system are ready for the jobs of today as soon as they graduate.
