Saints Santa Run brings the holiday spirit downtown

Registration for the annual Saints Santa Run is now open. The event orchestrated by Downtown Oklahoma City Partnership, is a family-friendly – including pets – 5K run, costume contest and more on Dec. 3.

The Downtown in December event will include a 5K run, or walk, race through Midtown and the nearby Heritage Hills neighborhood, ending on the campus of the event’s presenting sponsor, SSM Health – St. Anthony Hospital. A separate 1-mile run, or walk, and a 50-yard kids’ dash will also be included.

Participants are encouraged to dress up as Santa or other festive characters for the event for a chance to win cash prizes following the races.

St. Anthony Regional Director, Sandra Payne said the hospital enjoys being a part of events like Saints Santa Run, “which supports a healthy lifestyle for families as well as provides an opportunity to highlight all that downtown Oklahoma City has to offer.”

“SSM Health – St. Anthony Hospital values all of the exceptional work done by Downtown OKC Partnership to support revitalization and growth in Midtown,” the Midtown hospital director said.

Commemorative Saints Santa Run t-shirts, and finisher medals, will be given to 5K and 1-mile race participants. Cash prizes will also be awarded to the top male, female and non-binary 5K race winners.

Day-of registration is expected to kick off at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, with races soon thereafter. The costume contest will conclude the morning’s activities around 10:30 a.m.

All proceeds from the event benefit Downtown OKC Partnership and its efforts to keep the region clean, safe and friendly, while marketing downtown and its encompassed districts through community events and public art.

Registration for Saints Santa Run is $20 for the 1-mile, and $35 for the 5K. The kids’ 50-yard dash is free for participants. Online registration will remain available until the morning of the event, when registration is moved on-site, and prices increase by $5.

The Downtown OKC Partnership event is presented by SSM Health – St. Anthony Hospital and supported by fellow Chamber members: Midtown OKC, TTCU Federal Credit Union, Lopez Foods and Tinker Federal Credit Union, as well as West Shore Home.
