By Laura Nance / Lifestyle / December 29, 2020

Celebrate the start of a brand-new year by lacing up your walking shoes and exploring the parks and trails around Oklahoma City.

On Friday, Jan. 1, First Walk begins at 11 a.m. at Scissortail Park’s Love’s Travel Stops Stage and Great Lawn. The event is open to everyone, including children of all ages. Leashed dogs welcome.

The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum is celebrating First Walk on Saturday, Jan. 2, 10 a.m. – noon. Interpretive talks from the Park Rangers are scheduled for 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Walkers are invited to visit the Memorial Museum with special Buy One, Get One Free admission tickets.

First Day Walk is a nationwide initiative to encourage people to get outdoors. The event is organized through the Greater Oklahoma City Parks and Trails Foundation, the National Park Service, Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation, Scissortail Park Foundation and REI Co-op.
