“Happy Friday!” It’s a phrase we all like to hear, especially during a tiring and busy work week. After all, everybody is working for the weekend (So says the 80s rock band Loverboy).
Why not start off this weekend by heading over to Oklahoma City’s West Village District for their Fourth Fridays event Aug. 25. This monthly event held from April through October occurs – you guessed it – every fourth Friday of the month. The remaining Fourth Fridays of 2023 are scheduled for Sept. 22 and Oct. 27.
Guests attending Fourth Fridays can stroll throughout the West Village District and enjoy special deals, promotions and discounts from some of the businesses that make up this walkable downtown neighborhood. They can also enjoy live music, yard games and market vendors during the Lee Avenue Block Party from 6-10 p.m.
Businesses participating in the Fourth Fridays event Aug. 25 include:
- Mary Eddy’s Dining Room — Brand new wine by the glass menu.
- Pool Bar & Bodega — Pool is open to all ages Aug. 25.
- Sun Cattle — Will hold a coloring contest for children 12 years old and under with prizes awarded to the winner.
- City + Stars — Free permanent bracelet with purchase of $150 or more (gold filled or sterling silver only).
- The Pant Shoppe — Celebrating its 10-year anniversary.
- Elevate Massage — 15% off all gift cards using code FOURTHFRIDAY, and 15% off your appointment using the promo code SUMMERSELFCARE.
- Hart Building — Architecture event open to the public and hosted by Livingston Properties.
Established last fall by the Downtown Oklahoma City Partnership and encompassing what is essentially the southwestern corner of downtown, the West Village District is home to an array of small retail stores, restaurants, coffee shops, service providers, entertainment venues, museums and apartments. There is also a major hotel located there (formerly a Ford factory) and is home to the historic Film Row, where major Hollywood film studios once stored their films for distribution across the nation. Film Row is now home to thriving businesses and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
